I upgrade Jira software (server) from 8.15.0 to 8.17.1 but failed, it shows 'Jira Software expired on 20/Apr/21 10:00 PM, and you can currently only upgrade to versions released prior to this date.'.
So I do downgrade or called rollback the JIRA to the old version (8.15.0 ), but it still shows my license was expired, and cannot upgrade to 8.15.0. It's strange.
My JIRA installed through the docker method.
why, and how can I solve it?
You will need to renew your license if you want to upgrade to a newer version of Jira.
You can check your licenses on https://my.atlassian.com if they are tied to your email address.
Ok. Your licenses was already expired before you ran the upgrade but you probably didn't notice it.
On server versions you can use Jira with an expired license. Everything will work except for upgrades.

I'd recommend using a temporary trial license. You can generate one via https://my.atlassian.com/license/evaluation
On the error page there's a link "You can enter new license here". Their you can paste the trial license.

I checked it https://my.atlassian.com/license/evaluation just now
actually, there is no longer a trial license for the server type JIRA

Normally you can use a Data Center trial as well.
Just switch back to your own server license afterwards.
