Jira cloud migration assistant, how to read error log?

Hello

Preface:

I am attempting to migrate a project from our production Jira instance to a sandbox in our testing instance.

The migration successfully moved all users and groups, but fails with the project at 30% of the project data.

This behaviour is consistent between migration attempts.

Issue:

The error log I can download has no file name extension, and I can't seem to figure out what I should use to read it.
Notepad shows this:

Questions:

Am I doing something wrong?
Do I need a special program to open these logs?
Is it a bug I should contact Atlassian support about?

Hi @Rune Rasmussen

I'm afraid I can't help you what you might be doing wrong, but I'm definitely recommending to contact the Atlassian Support. I'd say for two reasons:

  • If it's an error on their end, they can tell you and maybe fix it for you.
  • If it's an error on your end, you can directly let them know that they'd need to improve their messages so that you know what to do without contacting support 😁

All the best,
Matthias.

Beginning of file you showed from Notepad suggest that this is ZIP archive. Rename it with .zip in extension, and I think you'll be able to see unpacked files later.
