Jira Software Cloud / Premium

I noticed in Jira software cloud, there is no ranking (1, 2, 3, etc.) field, just the highest, high, etc. I created a custom field called Epic Ranking where we can rank from 1-20 for features / functionality. The issue its a manual update.

Does premium offer a number ranking and or any suggestions.

Thanks,

Jeff

Jira Software free, let alone standard or premium, has ranking.

I strongly recommend that you use that ranking, and throw away your custom field, because your custom field allows duplicates (so two issues with the same value for the field cannot be ordered - you can't tell which one is higher than the other) and might not be global.

The built-in rank is global - every issue has a unique place in the order, it's not limited to projects because teams are able to work across many projects, and hence need to be able to rank everything.

Hi @Jeff Murray

Rank is an inbuilt feature. When you end the JQL with ORDER BY RANK ranking becomes available by drag-and-drop. This is included even in the free version of Jira.

I might suggest using Jira inbuilt feature for ranking with drag-and-drop for e.g. epics. This is a powerfull feature.

Example from a random epic list:

Example after some ranking is done by using drag-and-drop:

Hello Tim -

I understand how this works for a project. I'm referring across the portfolio. Apologies for not mentioning in my initial note.

Thanks,

Jeff
