Jira Cloud: Can we define priority field values for each project?

Ricardo Rodrigues August 11, 2021

Is it possible to define priority field values for each project?

For example, I have a service project that requires a separate set of priority levels than the ones we're using for all other projects.

In other words, is there a way to create a unique priority scheme?

Thanks!

As @Prince Nyeche  mentions this is not possible at this time for Cloud.

There is however a suggestion on on the public issue/suggestion tracker you can vote for and follow to be kept up to date for any future changes

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-3821

A (dirty) workaround right now could be to use another custom field that you manage yourself and have an automation copy over the value to the priority field. Meaning you could have a subset of priorities for different projects and the full list in the true priority field (which the user then cannot edit anymore)

19 years after the issue was raised, is a vote really going to move the needle?

Hi @Ricardo Rodrigues

No, the priority features are global, so there's no priority scheme yet on the cloud.

Is this still the case?  It's 2023 now, and there still don't seem to be priority schemes in the cloud.

Currently yes, but they are working on it.

Are they indeed? That issue was raised in 2004. Work is going rather slowly. I'm tempted to call it 19 years of doing nothing on something that it's hard to imagine would even be moderately difficult.
