JIRA attachments within comments vs regular

Hi Team, 

My team has a workflow where users attach multiple attachments (multiple versions) at different status of jira workflow. Some of the attachments attach to the regular attachments and some at the comments section. 

I would like to know the behavior attachments and also how to arrangements based on time stamp, also when user comments on attachments it should be attached to within the comments so users know which version of attachments he commented about. 

Can someone please advise?

There is a suggestion to add sorting of attachments to JIRA cloud, which you may view and vote for here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-64890  It doesn't appear this will be added soon.

Unlike the other changes within a JIRA issue, I do not believe you can readily see changes of an attachment.  So adding additions/revisions in the comments may be best.

However, please consider what content you are attaching and whether or not JIRA is the best tool for storing that content.  For example, if these attachments are development content/supplies another tool might be better to store them.
