I'm having issues installing a clean instance on my Ubuntu 20.04 using MySQL 8 and JIRA 8.8. I have a brand new Database created in the right format and no matter what I do, I keep getting the below Start Up Error..
I have installed the proper Connector JAR into the lib directories of the application and WEB-INF.
If you update, you can have another problem with the DB (like tables not being created/found) for 8.26 and was solved by https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/mysql-8-0-user-catalog-1071820569.html
Hi Andrew,
did I understand it right the installation is a completely fresh one?
If so, is there any specific need for using Jira 8.8?
I am just asking because there is, as per writing these lines, Jira 8.14 out.
The latter one is capable of using MySQL 8.
So if there is no hard restriction for you to use Jira 8.8 I'd recommend to take a more recent version (8.13 or 8.14).
Regards,
Daniel

Hi @Andrew Chepurny ,
MySQL 8 will not support for jira 8.8.
