Is there a way to close a bug on one component, but keep it open on the others?

Hello,

I have a home made application that runs on 6 different platforms.

I am thinking of using the components to identify each platform.

When a bug is entered, it should apply to each platform.

When the bug is resolved, it will be tested on each platform by different testers.

Is there a way to close the bug on one platform, but keep it open on the others?

Hello @Stéphane Varin

Welcome to the community.

You would need an issue per platform to support closing the bug for one platform and keeping it open for others.

Alternately, you could use sub-tasks under the Bug issue to track the work against each platform. You could close a sub-task for one platform, keep other sub-tasks open for other platforms, and keep the parent Bug open until all Sub-tasks are closed.

There are other ramifications to the use of sub-tasks depending on your agile methodology (scrum or kanban) and the reports and estimation statistics you need to generate.

Thanks for the quick response,

I will try this solution and see how the software teams and the QA team like it.

Greetings.
