Is it possible to link an Epic to an Initiative and make it a child issue?

Edited

How would one create an initiative (level +2) as a parent link to an epic (level +1) in a field in Jira Software.

We have added the issues types and create the hierarchies but are unsure of how to link epics to initiatives via a custom field and what the field type would be.

Hi @Danielle Gordon and welcome to the Community!

If you have already defined your hierarchy, then you should just use the parent link field to select the initiative as parent of an Epic.

When you pull your initiatives in the plan that also has your epics (probably as an additional issue source), then you can even drag your epics onto the desired parent initiative to create the link.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Walter Buggenhout , where do you find the parent link field?

Thanks, I found it!
