Within our organisation we have like a more standard project approach for implement our software with different clients. Ideally, we have 1 project (f. ex. 'Professional Package') in which we have a separate board for every client. In every board, we roll out a standard Jira template, which basically is the same.

So we have 1 internal team, that works dedicated to all of the projects within 'Professional Package'. But for every client, we want to have a separate board, to which we grant our customer access to just that one board, so both parties can track progress of the subproject. Is it possible to set this up? Or can we only add users to an entire project ('Professional Package') in this particular case?

Thank you so much for your help!

Hello @Katrien Deroey

You would have to grant the customer users licenses to your Jira Software product. That would increase your costs for the product.

You would grant them access to the project overall.

If you are using a Company Managed project you could use Issue Security to limit the issues each customer can see so that they see the issues only for themselves.

The comparable, but different, issue security functionality for Team Managed projects is Issue Restrictions.

Hey @Katrien Deroey ,

Yes, it is possible!

We have got a solution, Share Jira with External Users (Secure Share) which can possibly cater to your requirements. The plugin provides an option to share boards, issues, projects, and filters with external users.

Using our solution, you can create a link to share boards with your clients. You can also enforce permissions on the link such as view\add comments, view\add attachments, etc. You can even create multiple links of one board and can share that with different clients.

Just check it out once and feel free to let us know!
