Impossible to complete sprint

Denys Dudnyk November 12, 2021

Hello everyone. I can't complete the sprint and all the time see the message:

Sprint cannot be completed as there are incomplete subtasks on the following issues:

  • ICCSB-249

But the issue has a correct status and resolution, the same with sub-tasks.

Can it be an issue because we use different statuses for Story and Sub-tasks?
How  I can solve the problem?
Attached are screens by my issue

Welcome to the Community!

An issue is only "done" when it is in a status that is in the last column on the board.  My guess is that your stories have a "done" status that is in the last column, but the "done" status for sub-tasks are not mapped into the last column, so the issues are not done as far as the Sprint is concerned.

Two options:

  • Change the workflow for sub-tasks so that they have the same "done" status as the parent issue types do
  • Go into board configuration, then columns, and find the sub-task's "done" status, and drag it over into the last column on the board.

Even if you decide the first one of those is the better approach for you, I recommend trying the second one first - it's a quick and easy thing to do as a test, and you can put it back really easily.  Editing the workflows is a bit more of a pig and harder to revert

I have read many topics about this issue.
It works fine when Stories and Sub-tasks have the same status "Done".

But I don't want to have the same status "Done" for Stories and Sub-tasks, I want to have different for example:
For User Story it should be status "Story Done" and  for Sub-tasks it will status "Done"

That's fine, you just need to fix your board definition.  Map both "Story Done" and "Done" into the last column on the board.

However, in the other thread, you actually state that you've created another problem.  You can't use two separate boards like that.  A sprint looks to the board it belongs to for the last column.  Your sprints can never work because whichever board it is from, it can only see the stories being done OR the sub-tasks, never both.

You should delete the sub-task board completely, it's useless to you, and change the issue/story board so that it includes sub-tasks as well as the stories.

I would then add a one or two quick-filters to the board, so you can toggle views - issuetype in standardissuetypes() and issuetype in subtaskissuetypes() are the two I usually suggest (although most people usually find they only use one of them)

Thank you for the solution!

Hi @Denys Dudnyk

Welcome to the community.

Yes, it's possible, but go to the parent ticket and share the screenshot of the subtasks listed and their statuses.

Regards

Thank you for the quick response.

Sub-tasks:
1. Status "Done" has resolution "Done"
2. Status "Done" is the last status in the Sub-Task board

Story:
1. Status "Ready for Demo" has resolution "Done"
2. Status "Ready for Demo" is the last status in our main board for user stories  board

Ok so you are using separate statuses.

Question, is this happening only for this ticket? or do you have other tickets with the same situtation where it is actually working?

Denys Dudnyk November 12, 2021

It doesn't work for all my tickets.

Then I would recommend what @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- is suggesting.

Cheers.
