I have a team managed project and would like to set up validators in workflows

Gary Dlugy November 2, 2022

I know how to setup field required validators in company managed projects, but I do not see that option in the team managed project. Is there a way to set field required validators in it?

Team Managed projects have the concept of Restrict Transition which can be based on the value in a field.

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/available-workflow-rules-in-team-managed-projects/#Availableworkflowrulesinnextgenprojects-Restricttowhenanissueisaspecificvalue

However, this operates like a Condition in a workflow for a Company Managed project.

Team Managed project don't support a feature that is the same as the Field Required Validators as they work in Company Managed project workflows.

Hi @Gary Dlugy

AFAIK workflow field required validators are not available in team managed projects.

You could use the required fields feature - Once saved, new issues of that type can’t be created unless the required field is filled out. This would help capture important details.

Furthermore, another way to capture relevant information when changing a issue's status is to use the rule Remind people to update fields rule to your transition. This rule will prompt your team (but not ‘require’ them) to fill in a specific field upon making a transition.

Best,

Hamza
