How to include a column in list with hierarchical number tasks and subtasks?

I need to include a column the assigns a tasks a number like 1, 2, 3

And the associated subtasks the sublevel numbers 1.1, 2.1, etc

If you would like to do something like this, you would need to create logic of your own: create a new field and configure a automation that calculates this numbering for you.

Jira just auto-numbers issues in the order they are created, the project key acting as an identifier for where the issue is in Jira and a sequence within that project, so every issue is unique.

What added value would adding this sequence bring? If your issues are in a board, you can order them in the order you want and if they end up with other issues, they will get mixed anyway ...
