How to import the JIRA cloud backup zip file from our old JIRA cloud to new JIRA cloud account?

Swathi Pandravada June 24, 2021

Hi,

We are currently using a free JIRA CLOUD account at https://bettrai.atlassian.net/

We created a new JIRA CLOUD account at https://bettrai-us.atlassian.net/

So we need all the data from the old account to the new account. I have downloaded the backup to my computer.

When I try to restore it in the new JIRA cloud account, it's saying that the backup should be from the new account.

Hence, I am unable to import the backup file of my old account to the new account.

Can somebody help me with this?

Hello @Swathi Pandravada,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

With some recent changes in Jira Cloud, it’s necessary to create a backup before importing a new backup.

When importing a backup, Jira will be completely wiped, so this is basically a security backup in case you remember you need some data in the future since once you start importing data, it's not possible to revert.

With this said, create a backup from your new site just to unblock it, and then you will be able to import the backup from your old Jira Cloud.

Kind regards,
Angélica
