Our team is attempting to create a filter to find issues with emoji's in the comments. We've tried unicode, copy/pasting the emoji itself, and the :hand: syntax. No success thus far. How does one construct a filter using an emoji?

Hi Janene,

I can confirm that unfortunately it is not possible to search for emojis in comments with ScriptRunner for Jira Cloud as we do not provide any JQL functions to achieve this.

The reason we are unable to provide this functionality is due to the restricted functionality and API's which Atlassian provide inside JIRA Cloud, due to the fact that Atlassian only provide a Rest API in Jira Cloud and not the same Java API that the server version contains.

You can see more detailed information on the differences between ScriptRunner for JIRA Cloud and ScriptRunner for JIRA Server inside of the documentation page located here.

I hope this information helps.

Regards,

Kristian

Hi @Janene Pappas

You cannot search for those with out-of-the-box JQL.  I recall seeing something about doing it with the ScriptRunner marketplace add-on.

There are several open suggestions and defects about adding this capability to Cloud, which you can review and vote for here:

Best regards,

Bill
