How to add custom fields for a JIRA ticket, we would like to add a bunch of extensible fields to a ticket. Is it possible in the Cloud edition for our project alone?

Hi @BNR TECH ,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.

There are different steps for Company Managed Projects and Team Managed Projects. I would share the details based on Jira Cloud Instances.

I would request you to go through these documentation for Company Managed Projects-

  1. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/create-a-custom-field/
  2. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/add-a-custom-field-to-a-screen/
  3. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/custom-fields-types-in-company-managed-projects/

This one for Team Managed Projects -

  1. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/available-custom-fields-for-team-managed-projects/
  2. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/customize-an-issues-fields-in-team-managed-projects/

Please accept the answer if it solves your query else respond and allow others to share input.

Stay safe and healthy.

Cheers

Hi, welcome to the community!

You have to add the fields to the according screens and request types.

For a team-managed project, yes, just go to project settings, issue types, and add what you need.  Your project owner/admin can do this.

For a company-managed project, you can add fields globally, but then limit their scope (context) to your project.  You will need your Jira admins to do this.
