How to Integrate Jira with Tableau without plugins?

Hello, 

We have a requirement to integrate Jira and Tableau. Unfortunately we can't use plug ins.

Does anyone know how to integrate using RestAPI or any other method? We can integrate tableau directly with Jira database, but its not the road we want to follow, since we only want to expose 1-2 projects for this integration.

@Alex Kulichkov  The best way to achieve this would be by using a Web data connector.

The other way would be to use an initial sql query to use the specific table details you are looking to use if the web data connector is not a suitable approach for you.

@Bibek Behera thank you for the links! I'm tasked with finding the same solution.  Obviously using a plugin would be much easier and faster, but we are also on a tight budget. Do you have any experience with estimating the level of effort in doing the integration using any of the methods you recommended? I imagine the effort is larger due to having to map the database tables. I need to report back to my leadership the LOE for doing something like this. Any suggestions?
