How many instances of Free version of Jira Cloud can I create in a single organization?

Shravani Moosaramthota February 22, 2024

Suppose I am working for abc.com.

User with account user1.abc.com has created an instance xyz1.atlassian.com on Free plan of Jira Cloud.

Similarly, another user with account manager1.abc.com has created another instance xyz2.atlassian.com on Free plan of Jira Cloud.

How many such Jira Cloud instances on Free plan can be created by unique users in the same organization/domain abc.com? Is there a defined limitation?

Hello @Shravani Moosaramthota

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

I have not heard of any limit to the number of Sites/instances of Jira under an organization. But you should carefully consider whether or not having multiples Jira instances is a good idea. Access for each one has to be managed separately. They won't share customizations. There is no cross instance reporting available natively.

What problem are you trying to solve by having multiple Jira instances?

What problem is caused by having users access the same instance?

Adding to Trudy's answer, there's also not a limit for one user on starting Jira Cloud instances.

I have multiple Cloud (developer) instances because we use them as test environments for our marketplace apps.

Thank you @Trudy Claspill & @Matthias Gaiser _K15t_ for your responses.

There are different teams to be set up on Jira, hence different instance for each team should still work.

However, our limitation is to accommodate all the 30 users within the organization only on Free version instances (keeping in mind 10 users limitation in each Free instance), without having to purchase any.
