How do I revoke access for an organization admin?

I am trying to delete or revoke access for a former employee who was set up as the organization and site administrator.  I am getting the error the user is an org admin and their privileges cannot be modified.

Thank you for reaching out.

You must first revoke the access of an organization admin before you can completely deactivate the user and remove him from your site(s). These would be the steps:

  1. Go to your organization at http://admin.atlassian.com
  2. Click in your organization name
  3. In the left menu, click Settings > Administrators
  4. Find the user in the list and click Remove

Once you remove the user from the organization admin role, follow the steps below to completely delete the user from your site(s):

  1. Go to your instance User Management (https://<domain>.atlassian.net/admin/users)
  2. Click in the user > ... > Remove user
