How do I get Issues to show up on my vertical nav bar?

Below are screenshots of the vertical nav bar for two different Kanban boards that I use, configured as next-gen, and I'm stumped as to why one shows "Issues" and the other does not. I want them both to show "Issues". But I do not know how. Looking for help.

For Next-Gen projects, you'll want to navigate to "Project Settings" and then "Features" and then enable the "Issue navigator" item.

Is one of them a Next Gen and the other a regular project?    My Next-Gen do not show issues while my regular ones do.  Which template was used to create each project?

They are both next-gen projects. I do not know if they were created using a template. Are projects created via a template not adjustable/re-configurable after they are launched?
