How do I control field layout for Issues using the "Old View"?

I just learned how to keep the Old View displayed as the New View is totally unusable.

In the 'Old View', how do I order the fields so that they display in the order I prefer?

Status, Resolution, and Fix Version are in a center column. How to I add fields to appear there?

Some fields like Sprint display without field data and others like Story Points "The field 'Story Points' does not have value for issue FOLIO-194 and will not be displayed on the view issue page. Set value for that field so that it shows up." Story Points should appear without data because the issue will be created and at a later time time, story points will be added but it will be forgotten because it is not seen on the issue. How can we control default visibility of these fields?

Thanks,

Jackie

Hi Jackie,

To order the fields in the Old view - go to the appropriate screen in the Issues > Settings area and simply drag the fields into the order you want them to be - top to bottom.

You cannot change where in the screen they appear - i.e. the section.

You can set defaults for a field by going to the custom field, and then click on Configure. This will allow you to put in a default value.

John, Thanks for the quick response.

So, the only way to get a field to appear, then, is to make it have a default even when a default is not appropriate?

what is the 'appropriate screen in the issues > settings area'?  The Issues/Configure Screen has the fields to order but it doesn't seem to be impacting the order they display in the issue.
