How do I assign a "Component" to a closed issue

I have the properties set for my closed state, but I cannot see the "Components" field when I view any closed issue in either the Kanban or the Issues viewView Workflow Step Properties - Closed - Jira.png

Hi @Julia_Pflibsen ,

There are a couple things to check out, first make sure the field is not missing from the View issue screen and that is not set to hidden in the field configuration.  You can use the Admin Helper "Where is my Field?" dialogue located in the Admin drop down at the top of an issue in the affected project, to help out with this, and if the field is missing there will be a link to the settings page in the helper for where to set the value:

Next check the Project Settings under Components configuration and verify that there are existing components, if no components have been created for the project the field will not be present as there are no option possible for the field.
