How do I amend fields?

I am trying to amend the names of some un-used custom fields and delete some others - do you know how I can do this?

What do you mean by "amend" fields?

Some of the headings of the fields are no longer appropriate so I am trying to find a way of renaming these fields to make better use, rather than having to start from scratch with a completely new request/design.

As a Jira Administrator, you should be able to rename the fields. Go to Settings > Issues > Custom Fields

Search for the field and then click on Edit
