We're using a Kanban board and have placed several placeholder stories to get an initial version report put together. When we mark a placeholder story as 'closed' (resolution 'done'), it shows a burnup of that point value.
I guess I'm scratching my head because I'm not sure...
(1) should it show as a burnup?
(2) is there a way to show a reduction of scope w/o affecting burnup?
You do not. If you remove a story (from a sprint), the reporting is going to show that, because reports are there to show you what happened. So
Hi @Nate
I'm a bit confused, because you mention Kanban board and burnup, but they don't go together. If I look at the Reports section of my Kanban board, there is no option for either burdown or burnup.
The next point is why you've assigned story points to placeholder stories.
Looking forward to getting further info from you about this

You're correct...we're using a Kanban board for our day-to-day, but the Velocity Report requires a Scrum board. We're not organizing our stories into sprints, but do have a Scrum board to access the velocity report.
We've assigned placeholder stories because we haven't written stories for the scope of the project. These placeholders are an educated guess based on the t-shirt sized features needed
