Hi - new to JIRA. I need to get an email on issue creation for next gen projects. How can I do this?
I've wasted a fair amount of time searching online and finding out that neither notifications or automation rules work for next gen projects.
This seems an essential and basic feature - and looking at the community it seems to have been outstanding for months. Not impressed. Also not impressed that Atlassian are relying on the community for support of a paid software product.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hello Martin,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
Indeed, the Next-gen template was designed for those users who felt overwhelmed by the complexity of JIRA Classic template and requested a simpler option, straight to the point with fewer options of customization.
That being said, it is not possible to manage notifications in next-gen for now, although we have a feature request opened to implement it here:
- Ability to manage notifications in Next-gen projects
Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.
For now, you can use filter subscriptions to receive periodic notifications about all issues created in a determined time. These would be the steps:
- Navigate to your issue navigator page > Create a filter to return all the issues created in the last 15 minutes for your next-gen project:
project = XYZ and created >= -15m
- Configure a filter subscription to receive a notification every 15 minutes in case any issues are returned in the filter:
Performing the steps above, you will receive a notification at most 15 minutes after an issue is created, although this time can be set to any other time you want (1h, 2h, etc) to use fewer triggers and avoid possible performance issues.
