How can I change the default asignee and reporter of Board Issues

I'm the administrator of a board and I would like to set a default reporter for new issues. Also the default assignee to be the person who is creating the issue.

Hello

The default assignee is set for a project not for a board.

A board is a set of tickets that can come from one or more projects. So in each project you need to change the defaut assignee if you have issue that come from several project.

Here what the documentation says:

Different people may play different roles in different projects — the same person may be a leader of one project but an observer of another project. JIRA enables you to allocate particular people to specific roles in your project.

• Project Lead — user fulfilling the role of project leader. Used as the 'Default Assignee' (except for JIRA Software projects where it is set to 'Unassigned'), and potentially elsewhere in JIRA (e.g. in permission schemes, notification schemes, issue security schemes and workflows).
• Default Assignee — the user to whom issues in this project are initially assigned when created

Can I set de Project Lead as default reporter?
And the issue creator as default assignee?

You can set the project lead as default assignee.

Im not sure but if you look at the post function in your workflow there is may be one that allow you to assign the issue to the creator but im not sure and i can't test it now.

did anyone find a clear fix for this issue? I am having the same issue with default assignees who have now left the business and we do not know how to change them.

I am project lead but don't see any options or settings where can update this

A board does not and cannot influence default assignee. Default assignee is controlled by a few different methods, e.g. Components, Project Lead, Automation. A board is just a visual representation of the underlying issues. The concept of default report is a bit uncommon as you generally want the reporter to represent who actually created the issue. That said the same thing applies, this isn’t controlled by the board.
