Hi. Before the most recent update, I was able to rename an image when attaching it to a Jira using copy/paste.
Is there a way to do that with this most recent update? Once we add more than two images to a Jira, the lack of clear names is causing a confusion when people need to use them as reference.
Thank you.
Hello @Maria Polgano,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
On the new issue view, when pasting an attachment on the ticket, it will upload directly and it will not be possible to rename it before adding it to the ticket. It was possible on the old view.
There is a feature request suggesting the implementation of this ability on the new view as well:
Please, click on vote and also watch the feature above to receive updates from our product team.
Kind regards,
Angélica
Thank you for the response and the link to the other Jira. I really hope that feature will be added back. It's going to be very time consuming for our company to download/rename/upload images for each issue.
Thank you!

In previous versions of Jira, the ability to rename image attachments was essential—especially when uploading a series of lifecycle communications. This functionality allowed us to clearly label files (e.g., email1-day10
, email2-day40
, etc.), making it much easier for reviewers to follow the sequence and context of the communications.
The current version lacks this capability, which significantly impacts clarity and usability for both creators and reviewers. Restoring the option to rename image files upon upload (or after) would greatly improve workflow efficiency and communication accuracy.
