I don't see my Epic in the Insights section. Why?
Is that why? I just want to see the Epic with the Child Issue status. High level. Same that you see on progress bars in the Epic itself.
Hello @Maryellen Russo
Are you accessing Insights from the Backlog screen or the Board screen?
Are you talking about wanting to see this?
You do not have to have the Sprint assigned at the Epic Level for this. Epics will be listed if they have any child issues in the selected Active Sprint. You do not have to have values assigned to the child issues for the Estimation Statistic, but without value there will be no way to judge the progress
Thank you Trudy.
I’m accessing Insights from the Active Sprint board, button on the right.
Yes, I’d like to see the Epic with percentage complete. The same way it does on the progress bar in the Epic itself.
Is that possible?

No, in the Insights panel the progress for the Epic reflects only the issues that are part of the selected Active Sprint. The insights offered are about the information on the Board, which is limited to the Active Sprints.

Oh. I like that even better.
I wonder why the Epics aren’t showing right now then.
In this active Sprint, I have tickets tagged with Epics.
Hhmmmmm…

Are the Epics included in your board filter?

Yes. The toggle is set to yes for Epics. But I still don't see any on the Insights bottom section. Here are two screenshots.
Thanks for helping me try to figure this out. ~MER

I have not been able to get my Insights panel to show that same message.
What do you have selected for the Estimation Statistic for your board?
Can you provide a partial screen image from your board to show that it includes an issue that is a child of an Epic?

You mean estimations? It says Story Points (which we've stopped using).
FYI: I will be in flight to NYC tonight and OOO tomorrow. I may not reply until Monday. Sorry and thanks again!

I figured out how to get the same "Epics" message you see in the Insights panel.
The only time that message comes up is when your Active sprints do not include any issues that are children of Epics.

Apologies for the delayed reply. Prepping for a Trade Show with higher priorities. Sorry.
Here is a screen shot showing that there are Child Issues that are related to Epics. (Once you see it, I'll delete the image. I couldn't scribble everything out.)

Hello @Maryellen Russo
Thank you for sharing that screen image. It does appear that you have issues in your active sprints that are children of Epics.
I think the problem may be your Estimates setting and lack of values for that in your issues.
If your Estimation Statistic for the board is Story Points, but your issues have no values for that, then Epic Progress can't be calculated. You need to use one of the supported Estimation Statistics in your board configuration and provide a value for it in each issue (except for issue count which doesn't require a value per issue).

Oh Thanks. We're not using estimates at this time.
We were using Scrumpy (loved it) but, because were dealing with a different vendors old code, our estimates were wildly incorrect. What looked like a simple fix, was not. There's over a million lines of code. Ugh.
I wonder if it would work if I just fudged numbers in each issue. Like if I put 1 day in each ticket. Do you think that would work? I can try it since it won't mess up any other reporting we're doing.

If you don't want to use time or story points for estimation then try using Issue Count.

Shoot. Where is that? Where can I change from Time/Story points to Issue count? I just searched for 10 minutes. Sorry. I tried!

Click on the ... button in the upper right corner above your board.
Select Board Settings
Select Estimation.
You list of options will look different than mine, but Issue Count should be there somewhere.

Thanks for that direction. Great.
Ooooo!! That's helpful. Looks terrific.
But... it shows in Sprint Progress. Not Epic progress.
