Filter ordered by Rank, but cannot create sprint on Board

Craig Pearl July 30, 2014

I have created a Scrum board based on a filter that is ordered by Rank, but I am not able to create sprints. The create sprint button is disabled, and when I configure the board I can see my filter query is indeed ordered by rank, and right below that the ranking field displays a 'Ranking is disabled...' message.

Similar posts mention a 'rank' button which is not present on the filter tab when I configure the board.

I am wondering if this is a JIRA configuration issue.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I have mutliple teams I need to rectify this for.

Hi, Craig.

It should work by ordering the filter. Try the following steps.

  1. I believe (really not sure) that you have to order in ascending order (try adding 'ASC' to your filter order
  2. Make sure you only have one field in the issues called Rank, as said in the documentation: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AGILE/Enabling+Ranking
  3. See if you are actually using the 'Rank' field, not a similar.
  4. Try re-indexing your instance.

If you still can't solve this problem, you can create an issue at: support.atlassian.com.

I hope it was helpful.

Kind regards.
