I want to create an Epic for a business requirement that impacts multiple projects.
Each project needs stories linked to this Epic.
Is this possible to do with the help of either any app integrated in JIRA or via Rest API's.
Is there a way to achieve this since creating dependent tickets on epic is so time consuming that we are looking to automate the same.
Appreciate your Response.
Thanks,
Shravani Pandarmish.
We use Automation for Jira to trigger the creation of tasks in multiple projects.
The data is largely copied from the epic to tasks i.e. Summary, Description
Its triggered on Issue Creation and check issue type is Epic
We have a check box field to select the regions who projects we will create tickets for.
The only gotcha was that because we have so many regions we could not fit all the conditions in one rule so split logic over two rule definitions.
best
Tom
Hi Shravani,
Automation For Jira can help you with creating new Stories automatically when an Epic is created or by cloning existing stories.
Some folks might create a "template" as such so that when a value is changed on the template issue then it sets off an automation rule that creates a new Epic and related stories, and sets the value back to the original so it will be ready for future use. Not sure if that makes sense or not.
Can you give a quick step-by-step as to what you would like to see happen?

Hi John,
We are operating in SAFe and I need an epic having multiple stories to be picked up by multiple teams in different JIRA projects. The story should also show up on their board. Currently we can assign the story to anyone outside the project but it doesnt show up on their board. Can this be achieved by automation and how?
Thanks so much for your help.
