Disabling email notifications disables all issues notifications

If I turn off email updates for issue activity in the settings of my profile I automatically stop receiving any issues notifications in the left sidebar with notifications. I guess this is a bug, right?

When we disable the email updates on our profile, it will affect email and browser notifications. 

Currently, it's not possible to choose where you want to receive notifications, so I would suggest to turn on notifications and create a filter on your email to delete or move Jira notifications to another folder, so you can keep receiving notifications on the left sidebar.

There is a feature request suggesting improvements for this issue:

• Show "Browser" notifications for watched issues even if notifications are disabled
