Demand a field value on a transition without modifying the workflow

I have a category of projects that recently were moved to a unified workflow. And the first big issue this brought up is:

When a Task is transitioned from Status A to Status B the Field A value should be specified.

Previously it was a transition screen, but now I can't change the workflow without affecting others using it.

Is there a solution to make Field A to be populated by the person

For now, handled adding a transition with a condition to show the transition to the particular project where it is needed. Added the transition screen as requested.
