Custom/system fields option permission

hi.

I have a question about custom/system fields.
The field has optional values (including default). It can be selected by the user.

However, for a specific field, I want to grant/restrict the permission to change only certain people (or groups).

Hi @Chayoung Kim

In addition to what @Fabio Racobaldo _Herzum_ proposed, another suggestion would be to:

  • Hide that field from the create/edit screen and place it only on view screen
  • Create a new screen and add that field on this screen
  • Create a workflow transition (from any status to any status)
  • Add a condition to that transition such as only you or a group you choose can execute this transition
  • Place the newly created screen to this transition

Doing the above will result in the field being edited only by you or the selected group.

Hi @Chayoung Kim ,

this is not a builtin feature. You could manage that through an external app. The following app https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1226365/secure-custom-fields-security-permission-for-jira?tab=overview&hosting=cloud covers this feature.

Hope this helps,

Fabio
