Create workflow rules using drop-down (multi-selector) field

Using cloud software.

Background.

I am making a communications approval board to approve external and internal comms.

External comms have an extra layer of review, so will need it to go to a different step.

Can I do this with a drop-down (multiple-selection field)?

Meaning if you select at least one external communication channel in that custom field, then it will send that ticket for legal review (additional step).

Can I add a validation to a custom field multi-selector and then parse the values for the workflow?

or do I need to make two ticket types, and have specific workflows for each ticket type?

HI @philipf ,

May not be able to do that type of validation and parsing without a workflow extension add-on. Although, you may be to use automation to trigger transition based on certain values. May want to take a look into that area.

Otherwise, it may be simpler with the two ticket types with specific workflows. This was as thing changes between internal and external comms, you can make changes without impacting the other ticket type.

Thanks Ben, I had a feeling ticket types is just the better way. No reason to convolute something simple for the sake of being clever.

Thanks,

philip
