Change to "Story points" for an issue not reflected in backlog

If we click on an issue in the backlog and fill in the story points, the story points field in the backlog is not updated. We can click on another issue and then go back to the original issue and we see the story points we entered in the issue details. But the column in the backlog is never updated. Is there a way to get the backlog to update other than refreshing the entire page (F5)? Or is this a defect?

Hello @Deric

Thank you for reaching out.

The behavior you are describing happens because the board details indexes only when you first access it, so a refresh is required to display any changes performed in the detail view. In fact, this is not a defect but an intended behavior to prevent performance issues.

That being said, we have a feature request opened to improve this behavior and update the backlog cards in real-time without causing any performance issues:

Next-gen backlog - When adding value for the story points estimate in the right-side panel, it does not update the story points estimate on the card view.

Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Hi @Petter Gonçalves ,

Now when updating anything in side panel it updates in the backlog view.

Unless we added more fields to view on the card (via the board settings Card layout option) . in this case the story points/title is not updated in the backlog cards before refreshing.

Is there an open ticket on this as well, is it planed to be fixed?

Thanks.

This "Feature" is really annoying, we are coming from a self hosted Jira where this Feature was always working well without performance issues.

Now in the Atlassian Cloud, this is a feature we really miss!

In most cases setting Story Points or assigning a Story this is not reflected in the Backlog and you always have to do a page reload to get this in the Backlog displayed. This works only sometimes and only the first time, but in refinement you set Points to a lot of Stories!

Throwing my 2 cents in here, I don't consider this a "feature" for performance reasons.

If I'm trying to plan a sprint and estimating issues, it's beneficial to see semi-realtime updates to make sure the points don't exceed our velocity.

With todays MVC's and two-way binding i'm surprised that this is an issue.

We have also migrated from self-hosted where this worked perfectly, please add it to cloud too.
