For automation with bitbucket in the cloud you can create an app password as described here - https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/app-passwords/

Is there a similar concept available with the cloud based Jira that would allow an app password to be created for Jira?

I've already looked at the account options and those present in Bitbucket don't appear to be present in Jira.

Hi Paul,

Unfortunately, Jira Cloud does not have app passwords at this time.  I did not find an existing feature request for this, so I created one for this feature in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-79138

We don't have a timetable for new feature like this, but it might help to take a look at our new feature policy.

I also tried to find a 3rd party solution in Marketplace but none of those results seemed appropriate.

Andy
