Can't see administration when in a JIRA Software, but can in Confluence

A predecessor in my organization had initially setup JIRA Software. I was able to login and add products, however, those products have a team-# tag which is different from my organization name.

If I am in Confluence or JIRA Software, under the Product Switcher I can see Administration in the menu when in my team-#.

However, when selecting my organizations JIRA Software, I cannot.

I suspect something is wrong with permissions for the organization, but we don't know who set it up or their credentials.

Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?

Hello @Michael Wangerin,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Checking the details of both sites, I can see that you are a site-admin of the site that starts with “team”, but on the other site, the one where the URL starts with “it”, you are a Jira software user only, without administration permissions.

With this said, you need to contact the person who created the site and has site administrator permissions, so they can add you as administrator, and then you will be able to manage the site.

Kind regards,
Angélica

Hello Angelica!

Thanks for the response.

I am pretty sure the person who created this account is no longer with my company.

We use GoDaddy as our registrar and G-Suite for identity management. I have completed domain verification by adding a DNS record to the domain level DNS in GoDaddy and downloaded the export.csv file of user accounts. There are 32 Atlassian accounts in the export file for the company in the file, however, only 15 are still employed.

I have two questions:

1) can you tell me who created this account or who the current administrator is?

2) If I click the "Claim Accounts" button, will this impact our current administrator rights and will any G-Suite admins have rights to administer the team whose name begins with it?

Thanks

Hi Michael,

I can see that the last time the admin logged in on the site was in May.

Here in the community, we don’t post any private information, so I can’t share the name of the administrator, but I saw that you created a ticket with our customer advocates and they escalated it internally.

Regarding the domain verification, I would suggest waiting because if you get access as an administrator on the other site, you will need to disconnect GSuite and then connect on the other site again.

If I click the "Claim Accounts" button, will this impact our current administrator rights and will any G-Suite admins have rights to administer the team whose name begins with it?

It won’t impact the admin permissions in Jira or Confluence and yes, the administrators in GSuite will be able to manage the Atlassian accounts.

When you connect to G Suite, you sync your G Suite domains and the users under these domains to your Atlassian organization, giving you the power to manage all users from the G Suite admin console.

In addition, all users on your email domain will be able to log in to Atlassian products with their Google account.
