Can a proj admin create new global statuses?

  1. Can a project admin of a project using a simplified workflow create brand new global statuses (e.g., InSecurityTesting, readyForComplianceCheck, etc. )? I read for jira workflows you needed to be a jira admin to do that but couldn’t find anything about it for simplified workflows. I know you can “add” any existing global statues to a simplified workflow, but can you also create your own new ones?

Hi @eugine park

With a simplified workflow and board administrator rights you can create new statuses. But they will only be available to the simplified workflow. They won’t be available to other projects.

For a global status, you will need Jira Administrator access

@Tom Listerthat's not correct. Any board administrator can create new global statuses without any global permission!

Here’s the documentation that says you can add statuses but it doesn’t say you can create new statuses - https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver/configuring-columns-938845277.html
