Hi @Vijay 

To answer the question you asked, "yes, both Story and Task issue types can be in a sprint".  However I wonder if you are asking a different question...

The default issue hierarchy for Jira Cloud is:

  • Epic
    • Story, or Task, or Bug
      • Subtask

Story and Task issue types are at the same level, and so one is not part of another.  Subtasks are child items of a Story, Task, or Bug.  And so when a Story is added to a sprint, if it has Subtasks they are also in the sprint.
