Can I make an issue "Obsolete or Cancelled" so I don't remove it from the backlog?

Can I make an issue "Obsolete or Cancelled" so I don't remove it from the backlog?

I am finding a few issues (user stories) to be obsolete, duplicate, etc. . I want to keep them just in case, is there a way to push them to a cancelled status?

I tried adding the status to the basic workflow but it still can't edit the status or transition to cancelled from any other one, help please?

@Antonio Bernal, I’m guessing you may not have admin privileges? If you do then you could consider adding a status to your workflow for cancelled. However, this doesn’t seem correct to me. If the items are in fact duplicates then you should close them with a Resolution of Duplicate. Why would you want to keep them in the Backlog? Do you mean to say that you aren’t sure if they are duplicates and you want to leave in the Backlog until you determine for sure? Further you don’t want to mistakenly move the issue to a sprint?

Thank you, it is basically to decommission them while leaving a trace that this was created, it is a user story that is eithe rduplicate or no longer making sense, so I don't want it to be in the To Do column but in a new state that is "Cancelled"

understood but I would contend this is a resolution not a status but that is of course subjective. If you want a CANCELLED status then simply edit the workflow and add that along with whatever transitions you want/need. Set the CANCELLED status to be of "done" category (green) and then on your boards you can include the CANCELLED status in the Done column.

If you are having issues w/ the transition please share an image of your workflow so i can assist further.

thanks so much , i Ill try this!

Jack, you write

"...then on your boards you can include the CANCELLED status in the Done column..."

How do I do that?

I get a new column "Rejected" and I don't manage to merge that into the "Done" Column.
