Automatic E-Mail to the team members.

Hello Jira community,

so I had an automation rule set to automatically send an E-Mail to the people assigned to an issue, but the problem is I can only assign one single person of course.

So I tried to set another automation rule using the "Team" field, but I can't make it work that all the people assigned to the "Team" field get an automatic E-Mail.

Is there any way I could make it work?

Best regards, Matthias.

Hi @Matthias Preslmayr and welcome to the community,

Team field is reserved for the Advanced roadmaps (premium plan of Jira). So you can't really use it there.

What I would go is:

  • Create X groups in your jira instance
  • Insert corresponding members on these X groups
  • Create a group field
  • Place that field on your screen
  • Place that field on the corresponding notification scheme and event (e.g. update or assign event)
  • Create an automation rule which would place/populate that group field with the already created groups, based on your business rule
  • Test that the notification is being sent out

Let me know if you got this!

Hi Alex,

yes I got that, thanks for the fast help!

And you think with the Premium Plan I could also do that with the Team field?

Because we are already considering upgrading and this would make things definitely easier.. ;)

Notifications are being sent using the notification scheme. Inside there you can't place the Team field. And according to this thread as well https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Smart-value-of-Team-name-for-an-issue/qaq-p/1911773, one member from the Atlassian team stated that Team field was under EAP and not supported by Automation.
