Scenario:
Using Plans (old Portfolio) this is the hierarchy:
Project and Epic have a custom field:
Status Notes
Challenge:
Every time the "status notes" is updated in an epic, add (copy) this to the same field (Status notes) for the parent without losing the current information.
Example:
Starting point:
Project 1.1 – Status notes: Empty
Epic 1.1.1 – Status note Empty
Epic 1.1.2 – Status note Empty
Updating status note from Epic 1.1.1 with the status: “Epic on track”
End point:
Project 1.1 – Status notes: “Updated date - Project1.1 – epic on track”
Epic 1.1.1 – Status note: Project on Track
Epic 1.1.2 – Status note Empty
Next week, a new update is inserted, this time on Epic 1.1.2: Status notes = Epic Blocked
Project 1.1 – Status notes: “Updated date - Project1.1 – epic on track”
“Updated date – Epic 1.1.2 – epic blocked”
Epic 1.1.1 – Status note: Project on Track
Epic 1.1.2 – Status note: “Epic blocked”
This copy can not delete already information in the parent issue. Just need to add it, starting with a new line
Can you help?
I have Jira automation commercial app to do this.
Two things - yes you can update issues that are linked to each other based on a transition, second for appending values I believe you should be able to use smart values along with updating fields using JSON. Have you tried creating an automation rule?
Ravi
Hi,
Yes, I'm trying to create the rule in the last few hours but with no success.
