Hello, I have the free version of Jira. I am trying to create an Epic by selecting the blue create button at the top of the page. I then click on the dropdown menu for "Issue Type" and the only selection I see is "Task". From the videos I've seen online, there is typically also Epic, Story, and Bug.
Should I have the ability to create epics or is that a paid feature? If I should be able to, could you walk me through how?
Hello @Carissa Le
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
The issue types available initially depend on the Project Template you used to create the project. Not all project templates include the Epic and Story issue types by default.
Do you recall the project template you selected when creating your project?
Also, have you created a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project? You can find that information in the Type column on the "View all projects" page under the Projects menu.
You can add the issue types to your project, probably, depending on the project type. Or you could create a new project from a project template that already includes those issue types.
Hi Trudy, Thanks for the response.
I used the "Project Management" template and was a Team Managed Project.
I tried creating a "Scrum" template and I can now see the issue types for Epic, Story, Issue, and Bug. Thanks so much for your help!
