User Classification in Jira Service Management

Good day, community. I hope you’re doing well.

I’d like to know if it’s possible (even via REST API) to obtain specific information about a customer in my help portal. My goal is to differentiate between department managers and their employees. This differentiation would allow me to implement a more secure form, restricting access to certain information based on the user’s role or hierarchy.

Clarification:
I’m aware of the Project Settings > Access > Issue Security feature, but as I understand it:

  1. Roles do not provide access to information about the department a user belongs to.
  2. Global groups might offer better possibilities for achieving this goal.

Is it possible to implement this differentiation in some way, even if it involves using the REST API? I’d appreciate any guidance or suggestions you can provide.

Hi @Gustavo Ezequiel Szemruck

No, the best option is to create groups in user management.

Roles are global in the system and anyone with admin permissions on a project can add a user or group to a role.
