Hi there,
We have some HR type request types in our Service Desk project that we want to limits to be only visible on the portal to select people (HR, Artist Management and supervisors).
What would be the best way to lock down the visibility of only specific request types to some customers as opposed to being able to be seen by all customers.

Out of the box, unfortunately it is not possible. You will need a paid third party add-on from marketplace to provide the functionality. Based on my reviews from other previous community postings on the similar ask topics, here are a few add-ons -
If you preferred not to have paid third party add-on to achieve your ask, then you only option is to create a separate JSM project to host those locked down request types by controlling access to the project with configuring Customer permissions setup as displayed below -
