Jira Software and Jira Work Management

Swaroop Kumar May 17, 2023

Hi Team,

Use case - When employees in our org requests access to Jira Software, they are also provisioned with Jira Work Management.

Question - Does Jira Software needs JWM as a dependency to work? Or can I separate  them both so that end-users can request access on individual products?

I'm concerned that Jira Software users are also taking up JWM licenses.

As an FYI: THIS Article update by Abby Stiris from the Product Management Team for JWM confirms the March 2024 date was removed and JWM will continue to be available to users with Jira Software licenses.

Hi Swaroop,

No, there is no dependency there - you just get both right now. There are no separate licenses right now. A year from now there will be a separate subscription for Jira Work Management apart from Jira Software.

You still handle access to any of your projects based on the Permission Scheme for the project.

For those of you that landed here while researching whether JWM would be a separate license for Jira Software users, the answer is NO.
