In our organization, it is common when user submit 'Email Request' follow Service Request Fulfilment workflow for Jira Service Management workflow, however, there are some cases that we will need the approval process to be add on.
What I tried is moving the current workflow to the flow that has approval process which is Service Request Fulfilment with Approvals workflow for Jira Service Management.
However, when I move the current issue to new Issue Type, it does not allow me to manual map the status for new issue type.
Because the purpose moving issue is to have a approval process, however if the map status is setting automatic, which means, it will skip the approval process after moving the issue.
Is there anyway that I can manually move the current "Waiting for support" status to "Waiting for approval" status when moving issue type.
Or is there any other way that I can add on approval process whenever it's needed?

You can do a bulk update of the existing issues to update the status to waiting for approval after changing the workflow.
