Is there a way to thread our replies with the original email the customer sent?

When the customer sends an email to our support email and we respond, the responses come in the form of a new ticket to the customer's email box.

Is there a way for our replies to come as replies to the customer's original email?

I did this research recently, and the only way currently would be using an add-on like this one
