Is it possible to attach imported attachments (from CSV file) to a specific comment, not the issue?

Hi everyone,

I am rather new to Jira and I'm interested in migrating some projects from Flyspray. I've been using the System > External System Import function and picking the "old experience" with a CSV file.
Having done some testing this approach has worked well for importing issues, comments and all relevant data fields, however, when it comes to attachments, reading the documentation, it seems that files can only be attached to the issues themselves, not to specific comments of that issue!?

Am I missing something? Is there a way to attach files to specific comments during the CSV import process?

Thank you,
Tiberiu

Hi @Tiberiu Rosenzveig , welcome to the Community.

Yes, your understanding is correct. In Jira, all attachments are connected through the issues due to Jira's architectural design concepts. Even if you want to specify the attachment inside the comment, Jira adds the attachment to the issue automatically and then refers it inside the comment.

So, you need to add attachments exactly like the prompt says :)

Thank you. I was hoping that there was a way to make the attachments appear in-line with the comments, like when you add them manually, even if they are connected to to issue itself. But if that is not possible, I'll just have to think of some other way to indicate which comments the attachments belonged to originally.
