Is it possible to associate a specific sub-task type to an issue type?

Raymond Lim May 5, 2021

This was asked back in 2013 by someone else, but I wanted to see if it's possible now.

We want to easily identify sub-tasks between incidents/problems and other service requests. I created a sub-task issue type for incidents and while it is selectable when you create a sub-task, I want to restrict the "Incident Sub-task" for incidents/problems so that Agents don't have a choice but to create the appropriate sub-task type depending on the Issue Type.

Is this possible?

No, this has not changed.  Any issue type can have any sub-task type.

You identify what a sub-task's parent type is by looking at the parent.  There's scripting and automations that can help if you put a bit of effort in, but I find them clunky, and it's easier to just educate people to raise the right type of sub-task, or understand that someone can get it wrong
