In reality the locked fields are system fields more than they are custom fields. And they are locked for a reason. Which field is it? And what are you trying to do?

Can you share a screenshot of your custom field configuration? Which field are we talking about?
Generally, locked fields are system default or fields added by specific plugins, and are not editable for a reason.
So, can you also share a bit more information about why you want to change it, and how?
